Needles for overlocks/serger

When choosing the right needle, we always follow the used model of the sewing machine and the manufacturer's instructions for this model. Each overlock / coverlock is equipped with an appropriate needle system in which we use the needles of this needle system.

The most common needle systems for home overlocks / coverlocks are 130/705 H, HAx1, ELx705, or JLx2, more manuals and our table below.

We found the values written in the table on the websites of the manufacturers of overlocks and coverlocks and in the manuals of the mentioned sewing machines.

We always use quality undamaged needles to ensure proper sewing. The needle manufacturer recommends changing the needle after about 6-8 hours of sewing. Also, if the tip is damaged, blunted or bent, we do not use the needle - we will replace it with a new one. In addition to poor quality sewing, failure to tie them can also damage the sewing machine.

For home sewing, where in most cases we sew stetch/jersey fabrics with overlock / coverlock, we use needles suitable for knitwear and plaiting and do not change them. In the table, we provide a link according to the instructions for the sewing machine, but if you are sewing a knit, it is advisable to use stretch, jersey or knot needles that have a medium ball point style.
