My Story: How My Love for Sewing, Herbs, and Massage Came Together ✂️🌿🤲

My name is Gabriela Kubalová.
I spent my childhood in the beautiful region of Podkrkonoší 🌄, where my love for nature and herbs 🌱 was born. Together with a friend, I spent hours collecting herbs, drying them, and discovering their effects.

In middle school, I attended a Young Medic course 🩹 for four years, where we learned first aid, bandaging, and other healthcare skills. Even then, I felt fulfilled by caring for others 💖.

As a child, I also loved to sing 🎶 and in eighth grade, I dreamed of becoming an opera singer. But then the question came: What if I ever lost my voice? So I decided on a more practical path and chose to become a ladies' tailor ✂️.

I studied in Nová Paka and after a few years completed my graduation in garment design 👗. At the same time, I worked as a vocational training instructor in Malé Svatoňovice 🧵. Since 1991, I have also been self-employed.

Family, Sewing, and Starting a Business 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

In the following years, my husband and I welcomed four beautiful children 👶, and I worked from home. I sewed clothes, made repairs, and also designed and created costumes and outfits for dance schools 💃.

When our children were ill 🤒, I became interested in natural remedies and used Chinese herbal mixtures wan 🌿, which were then sold in a nearby health food store. This path called to me even then.

When our youngest child was born 👶, my husband and I started the e-shop Gabinka.cz 🛒, where I began selling mostly sewn accessories for children and strollers. I made removable stroller covers, rain cover bags ☔ (no one had those back then, and I didn't like the rain cover under the stroller, so I invented my own), and other gadgets and fabrics I had left over.

A few years later, I rented a small workshop 🏪 and expanded my fabric sales – and with that, the next chapter of my work began.

A Turning Point and a New Beginning 🌱

But then came a turning point. One year my body stopped me – I experienced exhaustion that kept me in bed 🛏️ for nine days. I couldn't get up, and my dear husband took care of me and the whole family.

The doctor’s verdict wasn’t optimistic. But, being a woman of action 💪, I decided not to give up. I started looking for ways to help myself – and gradually discovered aromatherapy 🌸, then aroma massage 🤲, and later retraining in sports massage.

After finishing that, I continued to educate myself, mainly in Chinese acupressure massage. That’s where my path to studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) 🧧 opened up – and that path guides me to this day.

Today I Connect All My Experience ✨

Today, all these chapters of my life come together naturally in my work: my love of sewing and fabrics 🧵, experience with massage 🤲, and studies of traditional Chinese medicine 🌿, along with my desire to share what I know. And my singing? I sing a lot while I work 🎶, sometimes even when my shop is open.
